Robbers kill one, loot house in Laxmipur
A man was killed and two others were injured in an attack by robbers in Kamolnagar upazila of Laxmipur district early yesterday.
Police and locals said a gang of 20/ 25 robbers entered the house of Abdul Wadud Jamadar at Karatitola village, breaking open the door at around 1:30am.
As the family members cried for help, the robbers shot house owner Abdul Wadud, 65, and stabbed his son Abdur Rahman, 40, an expatriate in Saudi Arabia, and Rahman's son Russel, 18. Wadud died on the spot.
The robbers looted valuables worth Tk four lakh and managed to flee the scene as villagers rushed in. Locals took injured Rahman and Russel to Kamolganj Upazila Health Complex. Rahman was later shifted to Noakhali General Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered Wadud's body and sent it to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Law enforcers arrested one Nurul Amin, suspecting his involvement in the robbery, said Mohammad Kabir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kamolnagar Police Station.
