‘Robber’ beaten dead by Tangail mob

An alleged robber was beaten to death by a mob in Ghatail upazila of Tangail early today.

Police with the help of locals caught three other persons on suspicion of their involvement with robbery, our Tangail correspondent reports quoting Mohammad Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ghatail Police Station.

Names and other details about the alleged robbers could not be known immediately. However, the three hail from Tangail, Chandpur and Dhaka.

A gang of robbers entered Sagardighee-Bharadoba Road in Sholakuri area to commit robbery when they were caught by locals and beaten up which resulted into the death of one around 1:30am, the police officer told the daily.

Locals chased and caught the three alleged robbers from Shagordighi and Joradighi village later, the OC added.
