Regent Group MD’s brother-in-law held over possessing narcotics
A Dhaka court today placed two people, including the brother-in-law of Regent Group Managing Director Masud Parvez, on a one-day remand each in a case filed over possessing 2,110 pieces of yaba pills and 10 bottles of phensidyl
The accused are: Giausuddin Jalali, 61, of Bancharampur in Brahmanbaria, and his driver Mahmudul Hassan, 40, of Jajira of Shariatpur.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Monika Khan passed the order after Sub-Inspector Kamruzzaman of Ashulia Police Station and also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced them before her court with a five-day remand prayer.
In the prayer, the IO said the two are members of an organized gang of drug peddlers and they have been running the business for long.
Besides, defence submitted a petition seeking bail along with cancellation of the remand prayer.
After hearing both sides, the magistrate turned down the bail petition and issued the remand order.
A team of Rapid Action Battalion on Thursday arrested the two accused from a house in Narsinghapur area of Ashulia and seized around 2,110 pieces of yaba tablets and 10 bottles of phensidyl from their possessions.
Later,a case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed against them with Ashulia Police Station.
