Rayhan’s death ‘in custody’: Suspended SI Akbar placed on 7-day remand
A Sylhet court today granted seven-day remand for suspended Sub-inspector Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, prime suspect of the custodial killing of Rayhan Ahmed on October 11.
Sylhet Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abul Kashem granted the remand on appeal of the case's investigation officer Awlad Hossain.
Inspector Awlad Hossain of Police Bureau of Investigation confirmed the progress to the media present on the court premises.
Akbar was detained from the bordering area of Sylhet's Kanaighat upazila yesterday morning and later handed over to PBI in the evening.
Rayhan Ahmed (33) was tortured at Sylhet's Bandarbazar Police Outpost on early October 11 night and died an hour after he was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital by police personnel.
