Rally, where obstruction: Sundarbans activists
Pro-Sundarbans activists today threatened to hold rallies on spot if they are faced with bar during their "March to Dhaka" programme ahead of a grand rally.
"There will be rallies where police bars are placed," said Prof Anu Muhammad, member secretary of National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports.
He came up with the announcement during a press conference. The "March to Dhaka" programme begins countrywide on November 24 – two days ahead of the grand rally in Central Shaheed Minar.

The committee for long has been pressing for scrapping the project of 1,320 megawatt coal-fired power station near the world's largest mangrove forest, the Sundarbans.
"We already sought permission to hold the rally from the authorities concerned and hope that we will get it," Prof Anu told the reporters at Mukti Bhaban in the capital.

Bangladesh government, on the other hand, is going ahead with the project despite protests and serious environment concerns issued by national and international quarters.
