Rajshai city Jamaat chief among 8 held

Law enforcers today detained eight leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including its Rajshahi city unit ameer from Seroil area in Rajshahi city.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of detectives and policemen from Boalia Model Police Station detained them raiding at Masjid Mission Academy around 3:30pm, reports our Rajshahi correspondent quoting police.

The Jamaat men were holding a secret meeting there, said Iftekharul Alam, assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

The arrestees include Abul Hasem, ameer of Rajshahi city unit of Jamaat, he added.
