Primary assistant teacher candidates lend paddy farmers a hand in Lalmonirhat
The assistant teacher candidates appearing in the 2018 recruitment test of primary schools have lend their hands for harvesting Boro paddy in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat today.
A number of aspirant assistant teachers in the area began the initiative voluntarily this morning by cutting Boro paddy of Abul Kalam Azad, a farmer of Matadi union under the upazila, reports our local correspondent.
While talking to the correspondent, Shahin Alam, president of the district's panel implementation committee, said the farmers in the area are have been unable to harvest their Boro paddy smoothly due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
Most of the day labourers in the area are now not willing to come out of their homes due to the spread of coronavirus, while many have migrated elsewhere in hopes of earning a good wage during the peak season, he said.
Amid the situation, the aspirant assistant teachers have offered to help farmers so that they can harvest their Boro paddy during the ongoing shutdown, Alam said.
"We have come up with step in line with the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and we will stand beside all farmers in the area gradually to help them for smooth harvesting of their paddy," he said.
