PM to launch textbook distribution tomorrow

Amid the coronavirus situation, the government will hand over new books -- free of cost -- to about 4.5 crore students at the beginning of the new year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the distribution of books through a virtual event from her official residence Gono Bhaban in Dhaka tomorrow (December 31).

On January 1, 2021, book distribution will begin at educational institutions across the country.

Following that, new books will be distributed among students of classes 6 to 9 over the next 12 days in phases.

Although there is no book festival on January 1 due to the closure of educational institutions amid the pandemic, these students are getting free books at the beginning of the year.

Around 35 crore books are being printed in this regard.
