Detectives claimed to have seized an SUV belonging to Regent Group chairman Md Shahed from Dhaka's Uttara area and recovered a firearm and some bottles of alcohol in it.

A team of detectives took Shahed, who is on 10-day remand, to Uttara Sector 9 and based on his information found the vehicle near Janapad Road area, said Badruzzaman Zillu, additional deputy commissioner of Detective Branch (Uttara Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

As per Shahed's information, the officials recovered a pistol, one bullet, five bottles of foreign liquor and 10 bottles of Phensedyl from inside the Nissan X-Trail, he said.

Two cases were filed against Shahed with Uttara West Police Station in this regard.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Rab team arrested Shahed from Satkhira's Debhata upazila while he was trying to cross a river to flee to India.

He was on the run since Rab filed a case with Uttara West Police Station on charge of Covid-19 test report forgery and charging patients for test and treatment, violating an agreement with the government.

On July 7, a mobile court of Rab sealed off Regent Group's head office and Regent Hospital in Uttara for the offence.
