Pirojpur fire destroys temple, seven shops

A temple and seven shops were gutted after a fire broke out around noon at a cotton warehouse on the Pirojpur Press Club Street today, said Abdul Malek, deputy director of Pirojpur Fire Service.

Firefighters were able to douse the fire after an hour of effort, he said.

Primary investigation suggested that the fire started due to a short circuit. The damage was estimated to be Tk 5 lakh, the official added.
