Payra road construction worker killed in accident
A construction worker, engaged in piling work on the four-lane road from Rajpara to Londa Bridge on the Patuakhali-Kuakata highway, was killed today after a piling louver struck his head.
The deceased worker was identified as Mohammad Manik, 26, son of Tara Miah, hailing from Rajtarika village in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh district, reports our correspondent quoting Mozammel Haque, sub-inspector (SI) of Kalapara Police Station.
Quoting an eyewitness, SI Mozammel said Manik got injured when a piling louver inadvertently dropped and hit his head while he and some other workers were working there.
Fellow workers rescued him and took him to Kalapara Upazila Health Complex where an on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Kalapara Upazila Health Complex J H Khan Lelin said Manik's severe head injury caused internal bleeding.
He said the worker had died before he was brought to the health complex.
Khandaker Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kalapara Police Station said a UD case has been registered in this connection.
He said the body was sent to the morgue for autopsy.
