Padma Bridge might be completed by 2022 due to Covid-19: Finance minister

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal today said that the construction work of Padma Bridge might be completed by 2022.

He made the remark at a virtual briefing after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement.

The finance minister said Padma Bridge was supposed to be completed by 2021. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the progress of the work has been hampered and it will take until 2022 to complete the construction of the bridge, he said.

At the meeting, the term of Korea Expressway Corporation and Associates, the construction supervision consultant of the project, has been extended till June 2023, meeting sources said.
