Pabna JMB operative placed on remand

A detained JMB operative was taken on a five-day remand yesterday.  He was arrested with three grenades from Ramchandrapur area of Pabna town on Saturday.

Police arrested Manik Hossain Babu, 30, son of Helal Uddin of Dakhhin Ramchandrapur under Pabna Sadar upazila, early Saturday on charge of organising the banned Islamist outfit in the district.

Police placed the arrestee before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court amid tight security in the morning, seeking a 10-day remand, said Abdulla Al Hasan, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Md Nazim Uddoula, granted five days' remand for the JMB operative, the OC said.

"We have taken him on remand to interrogate about the activities of the banned outfit and the source of explosives," the OC said, adding that they expect to get vital information about the activities and the source of the arms and explosives from him.
