One murdered, three injured

A man was murdered and three others were injured by opponents in Bhandaria upazila under the district on Sunday night.

The deceased is Phul Mia Khan, 40, son of Abdul Hamid Khan, and the injured are Emadul, 45, Md Shah Jahan, 50, and Abdul Jalil, 35, of Irki village in the upazila.

Around 9:30pm on Sunday, they were returning home from local Ikri Bazar when 15-20 men attacked them with sharp weapons in front of Board Primary School and hacked them, locals said. 

Locals rushed in and the attackers left. Locals took the four victims to upazila health complex and from there Phul Mia, Emadul and Jalil were sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital after primary treatment. Phul Mia died on the way to Barisal around 1:00am yesterday.

Local leaders of Jatiya Party (JP-Manju) and Awami League exchanged blame for the incident.
