Oil-carrying train derails in Moulvibazar; rail communication with Sylhet snapped
Rail communication of Sylhet with other parts of the country remained suspended since this afternoon after an oil-carrying train derailed in Kulaura of Moulvibazar.
The Sylhet-bound wagon train veered off the tracks at Bhatera around 2:00pm, said Kulaura Railway Station master Muhib Uddin.
One, out of 12 tankers, fell beside the tracks but no oil spilled so far, the station master said.
Sylhet Station Manager Khalilur Rahman said a rescue team has already reached the spot. But it will take time to restore the rail communication on the route, the manager said.
Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was suspended for 27 hours after a train derailment in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet on February 5.
