Noakhali gang-rape: Badal placed on 7-day remand, UP member on 3-day

A court in Noakhali today placed Badal, the prime accused in Noakhali gang-rape incident on a seven-day remand and Eklashpur union UP member Moazzem Hossain Sohag on three-day remand in the incident.

Mashfiqul Haque, Judge of Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate, passed the order after Begumganj Police Station Inspector Mostak Ahmed, also investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court.

The investigation officer sought 10-day remand for Badal and seven-day remand prayer for Sohag, said Harunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Begumganj Police Station.

After hearing the remand prayers, the magistrate granted four-day remand in the case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and three-day remand in another case filed under Pornography Act for prime accused Badal.

The court also put UP member Sohag on three-day remand in the case filed for gang-rape incident, said the OC.

Delwar Hossain, who was placed on two-day remand by a Narayanganj court today in an arms case, was shown arrested in the Noakhali gang-rape case, said OC Harunur Rashid.

Six accused were arrested from different areas till this afternoon, our Noakhali correspondent reports quoting the OC.

Meanwhile, Delwar Hossain, another accused in the Noakhali gang-rape incident was placed on a two-day remand by a court in Narayanganj today in an arms case. Rab arrested "Delwar Bahini" chief Delwar in Narayanganj yesterday in connection with the incident.
