Newborn baby girl found inside shopping bag in Savar

A newborn baby girl was found inside an abandoned shopping bag beside a road in Dhaka's Savar this afternoon.

Locals spotted the one-day-old child inside the bag in Muktirmore area around 5:30pm and informed police, said Saiful Islam, inspector(investigation) of Savar Model Police Station.

Later, the law enforcers rescued the child and took it to Savar Upazila Health Complex for treatment, our Savar correspondent reports quoting the police official.

Savar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Saimul Huda said that the newborn baby was undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex.

Her condition was well, he added.
