Mustafizur Rahman new envoy to Singapore

The government has decided to appoint Mustafizur Rahman as the next high commissioner of Bangladesh to Singapore, according to the foreign ministry.

He will replace incumbent High Commissioner Mahbub Uz Zaman, who has been recently promoted and will join in the headquarters as Secretary (bilateral), officials said.

Mustafizur Rahman is a career diplomat. He is currently working as Director General (UN Wing) in the Foreign Ministry.

In his career, he served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UN in New York and as the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Kolkata. He also served in the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN Offices in Geneva and the Bangladesh Embassy in Paris in different capacities.

Mustafizur Rahman obtained MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College. He also did a Masters in International Law from University of London, UK, a Post-graduate Diploma in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Institute of Public Administration (IIAP) in Paris and a Post-graduate Certificate course in Conflict Management from University of York, UK.
