Murder of AL leader in Cox’s Bazar: Ex-OC Pradeep, 21 others named in complaint

An application was submitted with a Cox's Bazar Court today to register a case against former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and three police personnel in connection with the murder of a local Awami League (AL) leader.

The two other police officials are Syed Md Shahjahan Kabir, withdrawn OC of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station and Masum Khan, current OC of the station.

Badiul Alam, brother of deceased AL leader Mohammad Alam Babul, general secretary of Whykong No-7 Ward (AL unit), submitted an application with the Cox's Bazar Court today to register a case against the three police personnel and 21 others in connection with the murder.

After primary hearing, Tamanna Farah, senior judge of Cox's Bazar judicial court, ordered the OC of Cox's Bazar Model Police Station to submit a report by August 31 after investigating whether any case was earlier filed in this connection.

The plaintiff's lawyer SM Shahid-uz-Zaman confirmed the submission of the application to The Daily Star.

Badiul Alam has alleged that the three police personnel, in collaboration with a few others, killed his brother on February 23 at Kobita Chattor in Cox's Bazar sea beach.
