Mujib Borsho: TIB for transparency in financial transactions

Star Online Report

On the eve of today's 100th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) yesterday underscored the need to ensure transparency in all financial transactions to uphold Bangabandhu's ideals.

The government has decided to observe the "Mujib Borsho" from March 17, 2020 to March 26, 2021 through different programmes throughout the year.

Bangabandhu had fought against the repression of Bangalees, their economic exploitation, corruption, the denial of democratic rights and other discrimination, the TIB said in a statement today.

Even after independence, Bangabandhu expressed his concern and disappointment about those indulging in corruption, the press release said.

Alongside his government's call to boycott the corrupt, he called upon the common people to unite against them.

Saying that Bangabandhu left behind effective strategies and guidelines against corruption, TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman called upon the government, political leaders and other stakeholders to build a corruption-free and well-governed country in line with the ideals of Bangabandhu on his birth centenary to ensure transparency and accountability in financing and financial transaction in the country.
