MP Rana denied bail again
The High Court today rejected a petition filed by ruling Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana seeking bail in Freedom fighter Faruque Ahmed murder case.
The HC bench of Justice Abu Jafar Siddiquie and Khijir Ahmed Chowdhury passed the rejection order considering that the bail petition was not submitted before it properly.
Amanur's lawyer Abdul Baset Majumder told the Daily Star that the HC passed the order after he told the court that his client will not be processed with the bail petition as the court said that the accused petitioner had been absconding for about four years and he surrendered to the lower court a few weeks before.
At this state, whether the court could grant him bail, he said.
Amanur, the AL lawmaker from Tangail constituency-3 surrendered to a Tangail court on September 18 in connection with Faruqure Ahmed murder case.
The lawmaker recently filed the bail petition with the HC saying that he will not leave the country as the lower court has twice rejected his bail prayers.
