Mother takes own life after killing son in Natore

A woman committed suicide after killing her son at Bhandardaho village under Baraigram upazila of the district on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Selina Begum, 28, wife of Abdul Halim of the village, and their four-year-old son Fardin Hossain.

Shafiqul Islam, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Baraigram Circle, said Abdul Halim is an employee of the customs department in Dhaka.

His wife Selina and their twin sons -- Fardin and Sahdin -- were living in Dhaka with him. Recently, Halim sent Selina and their sons back to his village home.

Family sources said Selina committed suicide after killing Fardin over family 'feud.' Sahdin Hossain was not present at home as he had gone on a trip with his grandfather.

Family members found the bodies yesterday morning and informed the police, who sent them to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
