Mother, daughter found dead

Police recovered the bodies of a woman and her daughter from a house at Choudala village in Gomostapur upazila of the district yesterday afternoon.

The victims were identified as Ayesha Siddiqa, 25, and her five and a half years old daughter Raisa Khatun.

Golam Mortuza, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gomostapur Police Station, said Ayesha's husband MA Apple is an employee at the local branch of ASA, a non-governmental organisation.

He returned from the office at around 1:00pm and knocked on the door of his house, but there was no response from inside. He also tried to contact his wife by mobile phone.

Being informed by locals, police rushed to the spot and broke open the door. They found Ayesha hanging from the ceiling and her daughter lying dead on the bed.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Adhunik Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police detained MA Apple for quizzing.
