Mobile court fines Etihad Airways Tk 2 lakh for carrying Covid-19 positive passenger
A mobile court at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport fined Etihad Airways Tk two lakh for carrying an identified Covid-19 positive passenger.
The passenger was also fined Tk 3,000 for "irresponsible behaviour" and "hiding information", Magistrates, All Airport of Bangladesh, said in its Facebook page.
He was later sent to Kurmitola General Hospital.
Carrying 254 passengers, the Etihad Airways flight landed at HSIA this afternoon.
The certificate clearly shows that the passenger was detected with Covid-19. But nobody identified the passenger at any of the check points at Abu Dhabi Airport before he boarded the aircraft, Ali Afroz, an executive magistrate, said.
As the airlines authorities admitted their mistake, they were fined Tk 2 lakh.
Earlier on December 15, a mobile court at the HSIA fined Saudi Arabian Airlines Tk two lakh for carrying a passenger to Dhaka without him having a Covid-19 negative certificate.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh in a circular on December 4 announced that any one who wants to come to Bangladesh from December 5 must have a Covid-19 negative certificate within 72 hours of their flight schedule.
CAAB came up with the strict measure to contain the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
