Mobile court destroys four lakh raw bricks

A mobile court yesterday destroyed over four lakh raw bricks of six illegal brick kilns and fined a brick kiln owner in Mathbaria upazila of the district .

The brick kilns are RSP Bricks of Masum Mollick at Tikikata village, MAB Bricks of Shamim Mridha at Panchsata Kura village, HZR Bricks of Habib Mridha at Sonakhali village, KSA Bricks of Anup Poddar at Tafalbariya village, PRM Bricks of Shamsul Haque at Kachubariya village, and MER Bricks of Rezaul Kabir at Purbo Sapleza village.

The mobile court also fined Rezaul Kabir Tk 1 lakh as they found him on the spot. SM Sadik Tanvir, executive magistrate at Pirojpur deputy commissioner's office, conducted the drive against the brick kilns.

"The brick kilns have been set up illegally on farmlands and also adjacent to schools and houses. They were burning wood instead of coal," said the magistrate.

Fire service and civil defence staff of Mathbaria fire service station destroyed the seized raw bricks by pouring water on them.
