Minor girl raped

A seven-year-old girl was raped allegedly by one of her neighbours in Birganj upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.

Villagers caught the alleged rapist Abdul Halim, 32, son of Morshed Ali of Kabirajhat village in the upazila, from Battoli area and handed him over to the police.

Quoting victim's family members, police said Halim followed the girl and forcibly violated her when she went to the rooftop of Humayun Kabir's house around 7:20pm.

Hearing screams, her family members rushed to the spot, rescued her and took her to Birganj Upazila Health Complex. 

Officer-in-Charge Akkas Ali of Birganj Police Station said a case was filed with the the police station accusing Halim in this connection.
