Minor boy rescued two days into abduction, one held

Police rescued a two-year-old boy from Bandartila area in Chittagong city early yesterday, two days after his abduction from Feni town.

The law enforces also arrested alleged abductor Saiful Islam, a distant uncle of the victim, from Lankarhat Bazar in Feni Sadar upazila yesterday noon.

The victim, Mehedi Hasan Rafi, son of Feroj Mia, was abducted from their rented house in Masterpara area of Feni town on Sunday morning.

Saiful went to Feroj's house on Sunday night and tactfully kidnapped the boy the next morning.

Later, he demanded Tk 3 lakh as ransom from Rafi's father over mobile phone for his son's release.

Feroj sent Tk 15,000 to Saiful to a bKash account and immediately lodged an abduction case with Feni Sadar Model Police Station.

The law enforcers, tracking Saiful's cellphone, raided Bandartila area around 3:00am and rescued the boy. Sensing the presence of police, the kidnapper fled the scene.

Later, police conducted a raid in Feni's Lankarhat Bazar area and arrested Saiful from there, Officer-in-Charge Mahbub Morshed of Sadar Model Police Station, said.
