Metal object falling from sky creates 15ft hole in Sitakunda

A metal object that fell from the sky created at least a 15 feet hole at Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram this afternoon.

"It is a solid iron like object – three feet in height -- that fell from the sky in an open place beside a two-storey building in Bhatiyari area of the upazila around 2:00pm and created around 15 feet hole," Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Counter Terrorism Unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Polash Kanti Nath told newsmen.

On information, bomb disposal and counter terrorism units of the CMP rushed to the spot and with the help of Sitakunda police recovered the silver coloured object, weighing around 30kg, from the hole around 8:00pm, the police official said.

Additional Superintendent of Police in Sitakunda Shompa Rani Saha told our Chattogram correspondent that they are conducting investigation into the matter to know from where and how the iron like object ended up there.

Further details could not be known immediately, the police official said.
