UP member hacked to death in Brahmanbaria

A union parishad member was hacked to death by miscreants in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria early today. 

The deceased was identified as Md Shawkot Hossain alias Jasim, 40, a member of No 1 ward of Mehari union parishad of the upazila, reports our local correspondent.

The deceased's daughter Zedny Akter said that someone called his father over cell phone and he got out of home yesterday evening.

He called home around 8:15pm yesterday and informed that he was coming. Later, it was learnt that he was beaten up and kept at Jamuna Government Primary School. 

He was first sent to Kasba upazila health complex and then to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, his daughter added. 

Abdul Karim, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Kasba circle, said it is suspected that he was killed over establishing supremacy.
