Mayor suspended

Satkhira municipality mayor has been suspended from his post as court accepted charges in two arson cases filed against him on April 21 and December 1 in 2012. The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives on Wednesday issued the order against Mayor Tajkin Ahmad Chisty, also former organising secretary of the district unit of BNP, said sources. He was elected mayor in the municipality poll on December 30 last year.
