Man who attacked Buddhist monk held

The assailant who attacked a Buddhist monk in Cox's Bazar yesterday reportedly over land dispute has been arrested.

Mong Yen Chin, 37, was arrested from a monastery of Rupasipara village in Cox's Bazar's Lama Upazila early today, reports our local correspondent.

"He was trying to flee to Myanmar. Now he is in custody and is being interrogated," said Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Cox's Bazar Model Police Station.

Upendita Mohather, 77, a monk of Woi Ma Tara Buddha Bihar, was hacked inside Oggameda Buddhist monastery yesterday. Reports had it that it was over a land dispute.
