Man killed in clash over gambling
A man was stabbed to death during a clash over gambling at Masimpur village in Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Munser Ali, 47, son of Aiyen Uddin of the village.
Police and locals said Ajgar Ali of the village protested against gambling at the village by Munser's son Sohel and his friends. At one stage, Ajgar's men beat up Sohel and his friends.
After a few minutes, Sohel and his friends attacked Ajgar's house and assaulted him. As a sequel to the attack, Ajgar's men made a counter attack on Munser's house at around 10:00pm and at one stage, they stabbed him.
Critically injured, Munser was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries early yesterday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ahsanul Haque of Pabna Sadar Police Station said no case was filed in connection with the incident as of 5:00pm yesterday.
