Man killed, 14 hurt over land dispute
A man was killed and at least 14 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over a disputed land at Hosnabad village in Dashmina upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Amir Hossain Dewan, 32, of the village.
Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam of Dashmina Police Station said police arrested four people for their alleged involvement in this connection.
Quoting the deceased's family members, police said there had been a longstanding rivalry between one Momin Dewan and Salam Hawlader of the village, over the ownership of 50 decimals of land.
The clash ensued when supporters of both the groups went to the disputed land and at one stage, they attacked each other with sharp weapons that left 15 injured.
Locals sent the injured to Dashmina Upazila Health Complex, where the doctors declared Amir dead.
