Man held for threatening church father

Police on Sunday arrested a man of ethnic community on charge of giving death threat to a father of a catholic church in Joypurhat. The arrestee is Sunil Tudu, 35, son of Subhash Tudu of Khanzanpur village in Joypurhat Sadar upazila. Sunil, also an employee of Mahalipara Catholic Church, confessed to his involvement in the crime, said police. Farid Hossain, officer-in-charge of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station, said Babu Ram, an employee of the church, filed a general diary on September 2 after receiving a letter containing death threat to Father Powel, a Polish citizen. "Father Powel will be killed if he does not pay Tk 10 lakh," the letter reads.
