Man gets life for murder in Joypurhat

A Joypurhat court yesterday sentenced a mason to life imprisonment for killing a young man in 2010.

The lifer is Anwarul Islam, 35, son of Abu Bakkar of Elta village in Kalai upazila. He was tried in absentia.

According to the prosecution, Anwarul beat up Abdul Wahed, 30, son of Afzal Hossain of the village, mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot following an altercation over a trivial matter on July 30 in 2010.

A murder case was filed with Kalai Police Station the same day. 

After examining witnesses and evidence, Additional District and Sessions Judge Md A Mozid found Anwarul guilty and pronounced the verdict.
