Man beaten for protesting stalking of daughter

Stalkers beat up a man as he protested against their stalking his daughter at Ajimnagar under Harirampur upazila of Manikganj district on Monday night.

Marufa Akhter, daughter of  Mizanur Rahman Mridha, also a student of Ajimnagar Union High School, is taking the SSC examinations at Patgram Anath Bondhu Government High School centre  staying at the house of Shahar Ali Master of Velabad village, the girl's family said.

Polash Hossain and his friends Monir and Nokul had been stalking the schoolgirl for the last four months. Earlier, they had made a proposal for illicit act with them. When she refused, they took a photograph of the girl with Polash and spread it in the area, the victim's family members said.

On Friday noon, Polash and his accomplices took photographs of her when she was taking bath in a pond beside the house. She told her father about the matter.

On Monday, Mizanur Rahman complained against the stalkers to their guardians. The stalkers got angry and beat up Mizan with iron rod and sticks while he was returning home from Bosontopur Bazar at around 7:00pm.

Mizan was taken to Harirampur Upazila Health Complex.

The victim's brother Mohidur Rahman filed a case yesterday against four people, including Polash Hossain, 18, son of Kholil Uddin of Ajimnagar village, said Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Harirampur Police Station.
