Man arrested for killing wife in Bogura
A woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Bogura's Dhunat upazila early today.
The deceased was identified as Shefali Begum (45), wife of Esharat Ali Akanda of Pachthubi village in the upazila, said Gaziur Rahman, additional superintendent (Sherpur circle) of Bogura police.
Quoting family members and locals, additional SP Gaziur said Esharat, a handicraft artisan by profession, took loan from an NGO but could not pay the installment of the loan.
The man sometimes used to argue with his wife over repaying the loan, our Bogura correspondent reported, as per the police official quoting family members.
Around 12:30am the couple started quarrelling again over the same issue, said Gaziur.
At one stage, Esharat stabbed his wife to death with a sharp weapon and fled the scene, said the police official.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura for autopsy, said Kripa Sindhubala, officer-in-charge of Dhunat Police Station.
Additional SP Gaziur also said they arrested Esharat from Chandaikona Bazar area of the district's Sherpur upazila this afternoon.
During primary interrogation, Esharat admitted his crime, added Gaziur Rahman.
