Major (retd) Sinha murder: 3 APBn members remanded
Three members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) were placed on seven-day remand in a case filed in connection with the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.
The trio are: Assistant Sub-inspector Md Shahjahan and constables Razib and Md Abdullah, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.
Judge of Teknaf Upazila Senior Magistrate Court Tamanna Farah passed the order after Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Khairul Islam of Rab, also the investigation officer of the murder case, produced them before the court with 10-day remand prayer for each.
Earlier in the day, they were shown arrested in the case, the IO said.
During primary interrogation, Rab found their connection with those who were involved with the murder, he said.
Rab's media wing Director Lt Col Ashik Billah at a press briefing at a rest house last night said Rab detained three APBn members for interrogation. If the elite force finds their involvement with the murder, they will be shown arrested.
Sinha (36) had been making travel documentaries for a YouTube channel called Just Go. On July 31, he was returning to Cox's Bazar from Teknaf. His car was stopped at Shaplapur on Marine Drive.
Police claimed that they tried to search the vehicle, and Sinha aimed his pistol at them, prompting them to shoot back in self-defence. They also claimed that they seized drugs from the vehicle.
However, witnesses gave different accounts of the incident. They said Sinha got down from his car, put his hands over his head, and then the police shot him.
