Madrasa teacher arrested for raping student in Kushtia
A teacher of a residential Qawmi Madrasa in Kushtia's Mirpur upazila has been arrested on charges of raping a class eight student.
The victim's father filed the rape case against the teacher -- Abdul Quader-- with Mirpur Police Station, our Kushtia correspondent reports.
Evidence of rape was found following a medical test of the victim, Superintendent of Kushtia Police SM Tanvir Arafat confirmed.
"We arrested the rapist after the physician carried out the medical test and confirmed rape evidence," the SP said.
Officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station Abul Kalam said the incident took place at Sirajul Islam Darul Uloom Maryam Nesha Women Madrasa in Poradaha of Mirpur upazila.
According to the case, Abdul Quader called the resident student at his office room at 8:00am on Saturday and raped her. The teacher raped the girl again at night and threatened her not to disclose the matter.
But the girl tolda friendabout the incidents on Monday.
When locals came to know the matter, they vandalised the madrasa on Monday evening.
The teacher fled the scene soon after the mob attack, but police arrested him around 9:30pm on Monday.
There were 30 to 35 students in the madrasa. They all left the madrasa after the incident.
