Lawyer held for 'taking hemp' in Lalmonirhat

Police arrested a lawyer on charge of taking hemp in New Colony slum area in Lalmonirhat town yesterday.

The arrestee is Shamsul Alam Milon, 38, a resident of Pinkir Mor area in the town.

On information, police raided the house of alleged drug peddler Motaleb Hossain and arrested Shamsul while he was taking the drug.

They also seized one kilogram of hemp from the house, said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Lalmonirhat Police Station.

However, the drug peddler managed to flee the scene, sensing the police presence.
