Lawmaker, school teachers harvest Boro paddy in Jhenidah

MP Anwarul Azim Anar, lawmaker from Jhenidah-4 and the teachers of a school have voluntarily lent their hands for harvesting Boro paddy in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenidah today.

The lawmaker, along with a group of 30 people including teachers and staff of Government Naldanga Bhuson High School, harvested the paddy of two bigha owned by Sabdul Sheikh at Helai village this morning, said Mokbul Hossain Tota, head teacher of the school.

"We are harvesting paddy as per the directive of the prime minister, following the labour shortage due to the countrywide shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic," said MP Anwarul, while talking to the reporters after harvesting the paddy.

The lawmaker said they harvested Boro paddy of 20 farmers in the upazila till today, starting from May 2.

The harvest of more farmers will be completed gradually, he added.
