Land dispute leaves one dead in Mymensingh

A man was killed in an attack by his rivals over land dispute at Bhedikura village in Dhobaura upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased is Moslem Uddin, 45, son of late Shamser Ali of the village.

Quoting locals, Gaziur Rahman, chairman of Maizpara Union Parishad (UP), said there had been a longstanding dispute between Moslem and his neighbour Abdus Salam over the ownership of a piece of land.

The duo locked in an altercation over the issue around 1:00pm yesterday.

At one stage, Salam and his two sons--Harun and Imran--swooped on Moslem and stabbed him,  the chairman added.

Family members took Moslem to Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex. Doctors of the heath complex referred Moslem to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way to the hospital around 2:00pm.
