Land dispute kills one

A young man was killed and 15 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over land dispute in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district yesterday. The deceased is Jasim Uddin Kabir, 20, son of Warish Ali of Mirzapur village in the upazila. Police and locals said there had been a longstanding feud between Warish Ali and one Idris Ali of the village. The duo locked in an altercation over the issue around 11:00am yesterday. At one stage, supporters of the two, equipped with sharp weapons and sticks, swooped on each other, leaving Kabir dead on the spot and 15 others from both sides injured.
