Kidnapped boy rescued

Police rescued a 12-year-old boy yesterday 20 hours after his abduction from Parbatipur Railway Station on Sunday.

Police also arrested two alleged abductors--Liton Sardar, 28, of Dinajpur and Yahiya Khan, 28, of Kurigram--from the spot.

Police said a gang picked Himel, son of Abul Matin Sarkar of Sarkarpara village in the upazila, from the station area around 12:00noon.

They later phoned Himel's father and demanded Tk 2 lakh as ransom for his son's release.

Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Alam of Parbatipur Police Station said the law enforcers raided a house at Adarshapara village around 8:00am and rescued the boy.

Police also arrested two members of the kidnappers' gang from the house, the OC added.
