Junayed Babunagari made new Hefajat-e-Islam Ameer

As conflict continues within Hefajat-e-Islam, the Qawmi madrasa based Islamist organisation has chosen Junayed Babunagari as its Ameer at a council held today.

Moulana Mahfuzul Haque, general secretary of Befakul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh (a platform of Qawmi madrasas), announced the name of Junayed Babunagari at the end of the council that began at 10:35am and continued till 3:30pm.

The council, which was attended by 400 councilors from across the country, also selected Nur Hossain Qasemi, principal of Jamia Madania Baridhara Madrasa of Dhaka, as its secretary general.

Earlier, Babunagari served as secretary general of Hefajat-e-Islam while Nur Hossain Qasemi was ameer of Hefajat-e-Islam's Dhaka city unit.

A central committee of 151 members was also formed at the council held 59 days after the death of Hefajat-e-Islam Ameer Shah Ahmad Shafi.
