JMB man jailed for bomb attack
A court here yesterday sentenced Maruf Mohammad Isaak, a member of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), to seven years' imprisonment for his involvement in a bomb attack at Pothimpasha village in Kulaura upazila in 2005.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to serve six months more of rigorous imprisonment.
Mohammad Alim Ullah Chowdhury, additional sessions judge of Special Tribunal-2, handed down the verdict. Two other accused were acquitted.
The case statement said Maruf and two others were caught by villagers as they tried to flee after hurling crude bombs at Nabab Ali's house in the village on February 2, 2005.
