'JMB' man held in Mymensingh

Police arrested a listed Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) man from Chankanda area in Phulbaria upazila of the district on Monday.

The arrestee is Khairul Islam alias Abdullah, 28, of Chankanda village in the upazila.

Abdullah had been absconding, said Rifat Khan Rajib, officer-in-charge (OC) of Phulbaria Police Station.

Abdullah was taken to the office of Mymesningh police superintendent at noon for interrogation, the OC said.

Superintendent of Police in Mymensingh Syed Nurul Islam said they were investigating whether he was involved in militant activities.
