Jeweller stabbed to death, two held
A jewellery shop worker of the town was stabbed to death by his nephew at Kalibari Road area of the town early yesterday.
The victim, Samir Chandra, 45, hailed from Tangail district had been residing at a rented house at Kalibari area, police said.
Samir's nephew Akash Das, 19, son of Shankar Das, and his accomplice Nurul Islam Sunny, 20, son of Nuru Miah of the town's Patgodam area, went to his house around 2.00am.
They tied Samir up and looted gold and silver ornaments and cash, said Abul Mansur, sub-inspector of Kotwali Police Station.
As Samir screamed for help, they stabbed him indiscriminately, killing him on the spot.
On information, a police team rushed to the spot immediately, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. They also seized two knives and a cleaver (dau) from the spot.
They later arrested Akash and Sunny from an abandoned house in the area.
A case was lodged in this regard.
