Illegal sand lifter fined

A mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Habibul Alam, yesterday fined a man Tk 50,000 for lifting underground sand using shallow-engine illegally at Sonaroy village in Sundarganj upazila of the district. The convict is Saidul Islam, a resident of the village. Informed by local people, police raided the village around 4:00pm and detained Saidul. Police later produced Saidul before the court that fined him Tk 50,000.
