House help raped in Jashore, accused held

The son of a businessman allegedly raped a 22-year-old female house help in Sharsha upazila of Jashore.

Police arrested the accused, Azmal Fahim Abir (25), son of the owner of Mouli Enterprise, from Navaron Rail Mazar area of the upazila yesterday evening, said Badrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station.

The victim has filed a case with the police station in connection with the rape incident.

The woman has been working at the house for five months. Yesterday afternoon, Abir found her alone at the house and raped her, the OC said citing the case statement.

The victim then went to the police station to file the case, after which police arrested the accused from the house around 8:00pm, the OC said. The woman will be sent to Jashore General Hospital today in the morning for medical tests.
